About half the shot will hang up in the tube when I go back up with the handle.the MEc charge bar determines the amount of shot that will be dropped and the MEc bushing determines the amount of powder. the ratio for powder is determined by the recipe you select and the brand name powder you wish to use. Since I replaced that bar with a Universal Charge Bar, I've since reamed the holes larger on the fixed bar, then drilled and tapped holes from the bar ends.

They are for the old mallet tool aluminum tube wad guide for the deluxe kit. Seen at gun shows in junk boxes and MAYBE gun parts/numrich if you deep search. I use a folded washcloth...drop 10 primer on the cloth. The cloth acts as a cushion making it easy to grab a primer. Complete a shell, grab a primer, drop it in, grab a hull and take off. The Mec 600 is a very simple machine, I'd keep it that way.
